Our products and ingredients

Nouveaux emballages produits bloc tofu Soyarie

Tofu is a traditional food made from soybeans. Produced by curdling fresh soy milk and then pressing it into blocks, it has been enjoyed for centuries in Japan and throughout Asia as a natural source of plant-based protein.

Today, it adapts perfectly to modern lifestyles. Recommended by Canada's Food Guide, tofu is a healthy alternative to animal protein: more fiber, less saturated fat, naturally rich in nutrients.

Our products are made with tofu from 100% Canadian, non-GMO soybeans, sustainably grown and selected for their purity, flavor, and naturally high protein content (at least 41% protein). Our recipes also incorporate simple ingredients like vegetables, herbs, and spices, with no artificial ingredients.

Nigari is a natural seawater extract that gently binds soy proteins during tofu production. Unlike other producers who often use a mixture of coagulants, we choose nigari for all our tofu blocks. It gives our tofu a clean, smooth texture, a delicate firmness, and a naturally pure taste.

Our silken tofu is made with a small amount of calcium sulfate, which allows it to form a soft and creamy texture, perfect for desserts, smoothies, and dips. This is what makes it so versatile in both sweet and savory recipes.

Yes. We exclusively use 100% Canadian, non-GMO, % soybeans, always grown sustainably. This is a core value at Soyarie; great tofu starts in the fields.

The different varieties of tofu

The firmer the tofu, the more versatile it is in the kitchen: it can be sliced, grilled, pan-fried, and is perfect for marinades. Silken tofu, on the other hand, is preserved in water and has a creamy, delicate texture, ideal for drinks, dips, sauces, and desserts.

Soyarie offers a wide range of ready-to-eat products Burgers, croquettes, cubes, patties, etc. They are quick to prepare, convenient and delicious hot or cold, perfect for a meal or a snack on the go.

Pressing tofu removes excess water to improve its texture and its ability to absorb marinades. This step is recommended for firm or extra-firm tofu. Silken tofu should never be pressed, as it will break.

How to do it:

  1. Remove the tofu from its packaging and place it on two folded sheets of absorbent paper.
  2. Cover with two more sheets of absorbent paper
  3. Place a heavy object (book, cans or tofu press) on top
  4. Let it drain for at least 15 minutes — up to 30 minutes for firmer tofu
  5. Replace the absorbent paper if it is too damp.
  6. If you are not using it immediately, store the pressed tofu in the refrigerator.

Trick : Well-pressed tofu absorbs marinades better and freezes without forming ice crystals.

Conservation

Keep your products refrigerated at 4°C (39°F) or cooler. Our vacuum-packed organic tofu blocks can be stored for up to 60 days from the date of production. Check the expiry date on the packaging.

Once opened, treat it like a fresh product. Submerge the block in fresh water in an airtight container and change the water daily. Consume it within 3 to 4 days of opening.

Yes, freezing is possible. Note, however, that it may slightly alter the texture of the tofu, making it a little more crumbly after thawing. It will still be delicious and safe to eat. Important: never refreeze tofu that has already thawed.

The format varies depending on the type of product:

  • Organic block tofu: year, month, day — e.g.: 2025SE23 = September 23, 2025
  • Ready-to-eat products: day, month, year — ex. : Nov 12, 2025 = November 12, 2025
